Come Fly With Me!

Today I decided to start another quilt(flying geese) before finishing the two I am currently working on. This goes completely against the grain for me. I hate leaving unfinished projects, but I really wanted to test out my Go! baby HST die. I had the fabric already picked out and itching to be cut- Timeless Treasures Crosshatch in black and white, as well as a yummy assortment of Kaffe Fassett shot cottons. I am waiting for a few more colours to arrive, but this is a good start.
I cut my fabric in 4.5 x 9.5 strips and loaded the machine using both 6 and 8 layers. I think I will stick with the 6 layers next time-just a little easier to cut, although the 3.5" HSTs all appear to be cut perfectly. In just 5 minutes of cutting I had this!!! EDIT---it was actually 4(not 6)layers that cut really well.
Absolutely amazing! Of course there was some fabric waste that you wouldn't get with traditional cutting, but worth every bit of it-even the dogears were cut off.
They sewed together like a charm and I ended up with perfect HSTs. Am I ever a happy camper today!

Go! baby has arrived...with hexagon die!

My Go! baby arrived the other day and I unpacked it to try the hexagon die. I also got a 3" finished HST and the 4 7/8 triangle.
I started my hexagon block that I first posted about here. I think the scale of the Prince Charming fabric is too large to fussy cut for the centre hexagon, but I will use the middle hexagon on the Go! baby to cut all of them-it was sooo easy and quick.
It took me almost 1 1/2 hours just to do this one block, but I think that once I get a bunch of fabric strips cut, I can do some chain piecing! I did manage to add a this bit of cuteness-
Love the frog eyes! I might have to put eyes in every block and call it "The eyes have it" I didn't add borders to the top and bottom of the block - a suggestion from Lee in a posting on her finished quilt.
I'm pretty happy with my first block, although I wasn't too sure about the orange. I think its okay though?

Colour palette....subject to change

I'm really excited about Lynne's Dead Simple Quiltalong and I've been searching Design Seeds frantically looking for what appeals to me as well as what I may have in my fabric stash already. This is my first QAL not including the one I did about a year after everyone else!
So TODAY these are the colours I'm liking.
They all appeal to me, so thankfully I don't have to decide today! Of course, it's all subject to change depending on the day, the weather, what I'm reading at the time, what music I hear, the food I'm eating etc. etc. Hope everyone else is having better luck!
