FMQing rightalong.....

I managed to squeeze in some time to do my practice FMQing! Trying to do strait lines without a walking foot was certainly a challenge. It sure was easier to have the line built into the fabric though!
I switched to red thread in order to see it better!
I did have some issues with the red thread showing up on the back as I left the bobbin thread white.
Playing around with tension didn't seem to make much difference, so I just left it on auto..
I am hoping it is just so obvious because of the thread colour?? The white with white certainly looks better, but I am thinking there
is a tension issue. Maybe I'll play around with it more this week.
Then, I started to practice following a pattern on the fabric...

Overall, not too bad. I moved the fabric alot, as I found it easier to see where I was going by stitching towards myself! Definitely will need to do more work on following the lines.

Those dots are normal. They will show up anytime the top and bottom threads are different colors. Even the same color can to it when you are using variegated thread.

They usually disappear when you wash the quilt. The batting will puff up and suck the little threads inside. Even millipede legs, longer, drawn out dots on the back, will vanish to some extent.

Bad tension = loops on the back like bug wings and/or the bobbin thread is just lying there like it has been couched to the quilt.
