Quilting with Leah!!

Well, not in person, but if you have been following along with her Wednesday Free Motion Quilting Project, you know that today is the start of the Heart and Feathers whole cloth quilting.
I prepped my cloth this week and used the template provided by Leah to transfer the markings...
I don't have a lightbox, so, as many of us probably needed to do, I used a window!
Worked great!
I used a batik fabric, and after transferring the design and basting, I am a little worried that there is too much design in the fabric!!
I used a light colour in the hopes that the FMQ mistakes I will probably make, *smile*, won't show up so clearly!
See...way to much contrasting colour right?
Darn, I thought so!
I think I had better start over!
Guess I'll just use a solid cotton.

Good luck with your free motion quilting! I have to admit, after doing all of that prep, I would probably just go with it, but that's me being (lazy). LOL Is it just for practice?

I'm using batik/hand dyed fabric too. I think it will be fine. I'm planning on using a contrasting thread. I'm really excited about this project!

Thanks for stopping by to comment on my FMQ. You say you struggle with it; I do too. Each time I sit down to try it; I never know how it will go. Now today I did just a little and it went great. Other days....it's a complete mess. I tend to rush the fabric around too much. I haven't been following Leah; sorry to say...just doing the monthly challenge...but it helps.
I would like to see yours....all that prep you did!!!! But it won't show up much I suppose....and it might make it hard for you to see where you want to go.....keep trying

I really like the flowing colours in your fabric. Once quilted, there's a good chance that your shapes will stand out in contrast with the stippled background even though there is a lot going on. I look forward to seeing which way you decide to go.

Patti - what color thread are you going to use to quilt with? Anxious to see your finished project!

I really like your fabric choice! I think you should go for it! I think all of us following Leah's blog are going to see our own mistakes so much more than anyone else. Happy stitching!
