Canvas...a pillow, a pattern and a giveaway!

A few short weeks ago, Leanne @ shecanquilt ,shared her pattern called Canvas and asked me to test one of the sizes!
The choices were amazing! There are 13 different size options in this pattern, and Leanne has made charts for fabric requirements and cutting of each size.
There is everything from a mug rug to a king size quilt.
I wanted to make a new cushion/pillow and followed the chart.
Picking colours is always fun and nerve wracking at the same time for me!
Because I wanted to make mine in solids, I went with colours that I had in my stash!
Believe me, solids isn't the only way to go.
Take a look at Leanne's fabulous fabric choices on her blog, and if you are on Instagram check out #canvasquilt
So, here is the cushion I made....
Love the colour play of light and dark! Leanne gives lots of help for picking colours in her pattern.
When it came to quilting, I really wanted to be a copycat and do the matchstick quilting that Leanne does so artfully.
So, I did some rows of matchstick in the borders, and then did more of a grid for the centre.
A beautiful Aurifil 40wt thread #2566 was used.
Gosh, I love this colour!
You can see a bit of the Chicopee I have hoarded to use for backing!
I used my always favourite covered zipper closure. Sorry, didn't take a photo, but you can find the tutorial at Sew Mama Sew.
Now, on to the GIVEAWAY!!
Thanks to Leanne, one lucky person will win this PDF pattern for Canvas!
Leave a comment...maybe tell me which size you would like to do first!
For a second entry follow Leanne, or even me!
I will pick a winner on Tuesday May20th, and will notify the winner by e-mail.
Please make sure I can reach you!
More great news!
Leanne has her Canvas pattern on sale right now...so if you can't wait !!
From now until May 24, it is for sale on Etsy and Craftsy at 50% off. The Craftsy version is just listed at 50% off, the Etsy version needs a coupon code which is CANVAS50. Both shops are under she can quilt.
Lucky Leanne is at Market right now, and I am sure she is having a blast!
I've been following the fun on Instagram.
Hope everyone here in Canada has a great long week-end. We are expecting rain here!
Thanks for stopping by, and good luck in the giveaway
This contest is now closed, and the winner picked by a Random Number Generator is #3 Crickets Corner
I have sent an e-mail to the winner.

I wOuld start with a mug rug. I could quilt it with my walking foot as I am just trying to teach myself to FMQ. Nice work!

Love everything about your pillow; the colors, the quilting....perfect! I need a couple of cushions for deck seating and this pattern is perfect so I would use outdoor fabric and make the cushions first. I would then make a baby quilt for a friend who has a little boy making his debut into the world in September.

Love your version Patti! And the quilting is just right. I don't know if I'd make a quilt with this pattern but am thinking that a HUGE cushion would be awesome.

You have a great eye for colour. I like the modern design, too. I think it would look great at any size, but I think I'd make a lap quilt.

I've been following you for a few months now. Thanks for the giveaway.

I like the transparency you have obtained with the colours you have chosen. I need to make some mug rugs - we just traded in our old melamine table for a wooden one, so I need to protect it when I'm drinking my coffee and reading the morning paper!

Uhm, baby? My niece is arriving in a couple of months...

But seriously, that quilting is ridiculous. LOVE it. Your colour choices for this whole cushion are gorgeous! Yep, stealing this one, too. :-)
