Since my zodiac sign is Leo, I considered it fitting to jump at the chance to test another amazing paper pieced block by Juliet @<a href="http://www.thetartankiwi.com/"> Tartankiwi.</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you haven't seen any of her patterns,go immediately to her shop!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You won"t regret it, I promise!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have been lucky enough to test a few blocks for Juliet, so I knew that her patterns are really detailed and are so life like.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Leo is a 24" paper pieced pattern,and I spent about 2 days piecing him.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Time well spent!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKwxjG6WMLzZeZ1fR-Ap9jESsZ8-hx5tFtFjpcnx917uLw2N043KDgrY2WodwFjdSvOYZ8eAMxUrI37R9NT0fIj6Ww3yRDJzS8nSShF48KbJLvBeLSNq_vEgx3aPvAkOMbk6T3NIp0-cg/s1600/Leo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKwxjG6WMLzZeZ1fR-Ap9jESsZ8-hx5tFtFjpcnx917uLw2N043KDgrY2WodwFjdSvOYZ8eAMxUrI37R9NT0fIj6Ww3yRDJzS8nSShF48KbJLvBeLSNq_vEgx3aPvAkOMbk6T3NIp0-cg/s1600/Leo.jpg" height="393" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is Leo- pieced,quilted and binding on.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I decided pretty early on to use solids on one side, and patterned of the other side.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I did change my mind a bit and made his nose all solid, to bring a balance to his face.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I densely quilted the left side(patterned) and did Stitch in the Ditch on the right side.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It wasn't until I had finished binding him, that I decided the right side of his face needed to be densely quilted as well.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I wanted his eyes to pop, and although you can't really see it in the photos, they do!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I love the detail in the eyes; my favourite part of the pattern.</div>

What a year 2014 has been! I haven't been blogging very much, but I joined Instagram!! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It's just so quick to post a photo, and write a little blurb.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Yup! I've gotten lazy!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I tried a little harder to keep track of projects done this year. In years past, I didn't do a very good job of labeling photos with the year.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, this is going to be mainly photo mosaics of my work this past year.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For my own benefit!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'll start with the quilts.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am seriously running out of places to put them, but can't stop making them. I think there will be some gifting done in the New Year!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0nRcE8qgP5ghp0JyTj8GTxrG8aemCyfp1Vmqhw1qc11_VPtKeKD65PsuQHpt-dCfyE8Dy1qWNRWRjcXrwxLZ6nBooSQXqMNMb3k-GFCx_hNnHUTNB2fv8rqwtl8ig2-CQutpJPJGx1GY/s1600/quilts2014mosaic.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0nRcE8qgP5ghp0JyTj8GTxrG8aemCyfp1Vmqhw1qc11_VPtKeKD65PsuQHpt-dCfyE8Dy1qWNRWRjcXrwxLZ6nBooSQXqMNMb3k-GFCx_hNnHUTNB2fv8rqwtl8ig2-CQutpJPJGx1GY/s1600/quilts2014mosaic.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Top row: Mini Churndash for a swap, Molehills- a baby quilt and pattern testing.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Second row: Postage stamp- love this one! Mini Trajectory- for IGminiswap</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Third Row: Vintage 9 patch- started last year, but finally finished it this year. Pathways- using HRT's- I will never give this one away! Elementary- my first "plus" quilt.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Bottom row: Hello,again- a scrappy quilt using some of my stashed away bits of fabric. Diamonds Are Forever- another pattern test, and I used Oakshott and Chambray. Wildly colourful, and I love it!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Last quilt of the year is still in progress, but I have the rest of the fabric now and should have the top completed this week.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The final one isdefinitely my favourite of the year using Alison Glass Handcrafted, Cirrus solids and Cotton & Steel basics. This is going to be huge, and will be a new bed quilt!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There is just something about a "plus" quilt that appeals to me! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Next up is bags, pouches etc</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiw1-VCxctV9jI-PMn85Lkrincl9Al-bCuMRBXG7CCNqYNY03LXJMoSdUCc8PkstDMi67hShyHSxIcjQxVBljjUXryw6H2OMlGPbP8Mb3SJoW8IALDZiK9n2WqFsFZvKJwMeGJ1OTImK0w/s1600/bagsandpouches2014mosaic.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiw1-VCxctV9jI-PMn85Lkrincl9Al-bCuMRBXG7CCNqYNY03LXJMoSdUCc8PkstDMi67hShyHSxIcjQxVBljjUXryw6H2OMlGPbP8Mb3SJoW8IALDZiK9n2WqFsFZvKJwMeGJ1OTImK0w/s1600/bagsandpouches2014mosaic.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Top row: My favourite handbag and wallet- The Boyd St. Bowling Bag and Necessary Clutch wallet. I still use them! Amy Butler's WEEKENDER!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This just about killed me, but OMG, I sure love it now! And Indelible is my favourite fabric of the year! Love the handmade hardware too!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Second row: My first Sew Together Bag. Hmmm- I have a second one somewhere! I didn't find it all that hard to make. I know some people had difficulty with it though. A few travel pouches for underwear which I gifted to friends. A Diva Wallet for our Christmas Gift Exchange for Saskatoon MQG</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Bottom row: More of the Diva Wallet. I made 2 of them, and love the one I am using. I have 2 more frames, and plan to pick some gorgeous fabric to use in them!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Crafty stuff: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjUF2oYwyaDqLorVi_bIfABWp7faysMnsLSuq0BROUih6yLhNNR229qnWMhdPdVEc-9Imdlf2ZOacSqRQMuR-LZOtSNtnP4QRKLa061bwcDsg7t1HjZCFOLz0giCtQvj8HlkDfLCJDSgE/s1600/craftsandswaps2014mosaicjpg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjUF2oYwyaDqLorVi_bIfABWp7faysMnsLSuq0BROUih6yLhNNR229qnWMhdPdVEc-9Imdlf2ZOacSqRQMuR-LZOtSNtnP4QRKLa061bwcDsg7t1HjZCFOLz0giCtQvj8HlkDfLCJDSgE/s1600/craftsandswaps2014mosaicjpg.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well, you know, just a mixture of different things! Oh, there is the other Sew Together Bag! I gave it away! A few cushions in there too. On the middle and bottom (R) are the EPP cushions all done by hand! Fun, but so darn much work!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
do. Good Stitches Happiness Circle- I love sewing for this group, and the quilters are just amazing. </div>

So much fun sewing for other Canadian quilters! I skipped out on the 2015 round, and now I kinda regret it! </div>

A Bunch of Other Stuff:</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Wow! Just a mixture of different thing. I do a lot of paper piecing, and love to test blocks for some amazing designers. How do they do it?? It boggles my puny brain!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A few wonky photos here! Like the walrus laying on his side! Maybe he's just tired! I made a pile of microwave safe bowl and plate cozies for friends who wanted to gift them. Worked for me!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Of course, I made socks! My drawer is really getting full, but I find it so relaxing and I need something to do when watching TV at night. I rarely sew at night as the lighting isn't all that good and I get eye strain so easily.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Economy Blocks- yikes! I need to get busy and finish this! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well, I think that is all of my <strike>crap</strike> stuff!! It always surprises me that I did so many things in a year!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I haven't really made any quilting goals for next year. It seems to happen that plans change frequently, so I just go with it!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm finding the mini quilt swaps to be so much fun!You can try something new, but on a small scale. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I want to limit my quilts to maybe 2! But, there are just so many patterns out there calling to me! I must resist!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am also going to sew from my stash in the coming year!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well....I already know that I'll be buying Cotton & Steel, but, other than that....</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Okay, I am in a Liberty monthly club, but that's not NEW!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I can see that this is going to be tough! All I can do is try...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Alrighty then... way to much blah, blah blah.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm done here!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Happy New Year to you all, and happy sewing in 2015!</div>

Here we are with November coming to a close, winter has set in, and Christmas is right around the corner!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Which brings us to another month of</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A Lovely Year of Finishes.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://fiberofallsorts.blogspot.com/p/2014-lovely-year-of-finishes.html" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="A Lovely Year of Finishes"> <img alt="A Lovely Year of Finishes" src="http://blog.sewbittersweetdesigns.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/image002.jpg" height="180" style="border: medium none;" width="180" /></a></div>
I am really happy with this months finish!<br />
I keep changing the name of this quilt, but now I sticking with... </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #cc0000;"><b>Diamonds Are Forever</b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TaOwmSTcbao/VHZYyZs9BnI/AAAAAAAAGf8/IS6JVZ8YxLc/s1600/DSC_7006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TaOwmSTcbao/VHZYyZs9BnI/AAAAAAAAGf8/IS6JVZ8YxLc/s1600/DSC_7006.jpg" height="208" width="320" /></a></div>
This quilt is a pattern which I was lucky enough to test for<br />
<a href="http://aylin-nilya.blogspot.ca/">Aylin-Nilya </a><br />
This was an incredible pattern, and her directions and templates for this quilt were amazing.<br />
I decided to pull out my Oakshott box and pair it with some black Chambray.<br />
A few of the blocks were matchy, but, for the most part, I just picked random colours.<br />
My only criteria was that there needed to be a lot of contrast!<br />
I guess I got that! In spades!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-T2_MDUNG6mY/U_94vbbPQFI/AAAAAAAAGYg/jmG9eOhtYsc/s1600/DSC_6814.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-T2_MDUNG6mY/U_94vbbPQFI/AAAAAAAAGYg/jmG9eOhtYsc/s1600/DSC_6814.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
For the first time, I used glue exclusively in piecing these blocks.<br />
It worked out amazingly well, especially with the bias edges and the really fine quality of the fabric!<br />
As you can see, there are a lot of pieces to each block, and it was essential that the seams match.<br />
I was a bit stumped about how to quilt this. Fate intervened when I picked up some amazing Indelible.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-b_pZYAsJ09U/VHedKD9o1XI/AAAAAAAAGh8/93RdWwAZbIE/s1600/DSC_7015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-b_pZYAsJ09U/VHedKD9o1XI/AAAAAAAAGh8/93RdWwAZbIE/s1600/DSC_7015.JPG" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Then I got a class through<a href="http://www.craftsy.com/"> Craftsy</a>.<br />
It was Jacquie Gering -Creative Quilting With Your Walking Foot.<br />
I picked some of my favourite Auriful colours and got to work!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6bEa9SBBwg0/VHeUnBDWNFI/AAAAAAAAGhc/-ZYnYBjhetc/s1600/PicMonkey%2BCollage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6bEa9SBBwg0/VHeUnBDWNFI/AAAAAAAAGhc/-ZYnYBjhetc/s1600/PicMonkey%2BCollage.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
I alternated the variegated #4670 and the black #2690 threads in straight line quilting throughout all the Chambray.<br />
My lovely assistant points out where the strips intersect...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-swOTIH5eHBo/VHedF3sVepI/AAAAAAAAGhs/w-tGdNjvmV0/s1600/DSC_7009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-swOTIH5eHBo/VHedF3sVepI/AAAAAAAAGhs/w-tGdNjvmV0/s1600/DSC_7009.JPG" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
In each diamond I did radiant line quilting using Aurifil #2600- my all time favourite colour!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FCahAJFLe3Y/VHedH7BUbjI/AAAAAAAAGh0/_8ct6l1ETcA/s1600/DSC_7014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FCahAJFLe3Y/VHedH7BUbjI/AAAAAAAAGh0/_8ct6l1ETcA/s1600/DSC_7014.JPG" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
This quilt measures 59"x75"<br />
You can't live in Canada without the "quilt in the snow" photo, so here it is!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Sh1OryqkQJ8/VHZYs-2iHtI/AAAAAAAAGfk/3F4LFXzBZHI/s1600/DSC_6995.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Sh1OryqkQJ8/VHZYs-2iHtI/AAAAAAAAGfk/3F4LFXzBZHI/s1600/DSC_6995.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
And, spotted in the wild...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0guy8Sac7O8/VHZYrTHn4uI/AAAAAAAAGfc/EpYFm8DeAqo/s1600/DSC_6987.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0guy8Sac7O8/VHZYrTHn4uI/AAAAAAAAGfc/EpYFm8DeAqo/s1600/DSC_6987.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
So, thanks for stopping by, and I hope you also had a successful finish for November.<br />
Time to link up!<br />
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I love the setting new goals part! Don't you?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now, actually getting them done is a whole other matter!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I think I'm going to be okay this month though. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I really, really want to get this one done, as I promised myself that I wouldn't start a new one until then. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Talk about motivation, or what!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The best part is that I really love this quilt!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-T2_MDUNG6mY/U_94vbbPQFI/AAAAAAAAGYg/jmG9eOhtYsc/s1600/DSC_6814.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-T2_MDUNG6mY/U_94vbbPQFI/AAAAAAAAGYg/jmG9eOhtYsc/s1600/DSC_6814.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9-2MaM_ypu0/VCs1rgiKwHI/AAAAAAAAGc0/mu5VTVljh0A/s1600/photo%2B1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9-2MaM_ypu0/VCs1rgiKwHI/AAAAAAAAGc0/mu5VTVljh0A/s1600/photo%2B1.JPG" height="320" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://aylin-nilya.blogspot.ca/">This diamond pattern is from </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://aylin-nilya.blogspot.ca/">Aylin-Nilya</a>, and she kindly agreed to let me be a tester for her!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I pulled out my Oakshott Colourbox, and added some black cotton Chambray. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Chambray is very similar to the Oakshott in feel and density. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pattern was a joy to make using cardstock templates, and I also used the glue basting method for all the seams! Nary a pin in site! Because the fabrics are quite thin, the glue basting kept the fabric from stretching all over the place!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As you can see, I paid little attention to colour matching! Eek!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-t-C03_N1G0w/U_94ybi6iHI/AAAAAAAAGYo/CvOK0uCzj9I/s1600/DSC_6815.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-t-C03_N1G0w/U_94ybi6iHI/AAAAAAAAGYo/CvOK0uCzj9I/s1600/DSC_6815.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Oops! I posted this before I actually finished it That's the trouble with switching between my laptop and my ipad!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm planning to quilt it with several Aurifil thread colours.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, NOW I'm finished, and linking up!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope you are all joining in and getting some finishes done before the mad rush to Christmas deadlines! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Well, if anything can get me back into blogging, it's the</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Blogger's Quilt Festival!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://amyscreativeside.com/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="AmysCreativeSide.com"><img alt="AmysCreativeSide.com" src="http://amyscreativeside.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Fall-2014-BQF-Button-small.jpg" style="border: medium none;" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Once again, <a href="http://amyscreativeside.com/bloggers-quilt-festival/">Amy's Creative Side</a> is hosting this biannual event. <br />
It is always so much fun to participate in this, and see what everyone has been up to since the Spring Festival.<br />
My entry will be seen in the Small Quilt category.<br />
This is<span style="color: #990000;"><b> <span style="color: #0b5394;">Pathways</span></b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oQvTiYYes1w/U9LlFl1B9_I/AAAAAAAAGK4/St0ChNKEs9k/s1600/Pathwaysjpg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oQvTiYYes1w/U9LlFl1B9_I/AAAAAAAAGK4/St0ChNKEs9k/s1600/Pathwaysjpg.jpg" height="265" width="400" /></a></div>
I made this quilt using HRT's , and various low volume prints.<br />
While I'm the first to admit low volume is not a favourite for me, it did work rather well in this quilt!<br />
It measures 52"x 59"<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jclla_bTxXc/U9LvBAxF85I/AAAAAAAAGLo/0eljKCrf1Po/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jclla_bTxXc/U9LvBAxF85I/AAAAAAAAGLo/0eljKCrf1Po/s1600/photo.JPG" height="320" width="239" /></a></div>
For me, basting is always 505 spray, with a few pins around the perimeter of the quilt.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gAQnGc9iSzA/U9L4L6LVj5I/AAAAAAAAGMI/qDlYZNTltsE/s1600/photo-3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gAQnGc9iSzA/U9L4L6LVj5I/AAAAAAAAGMI/qDlYZNTltsE/s1600/photo-3.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
I used this great fabric for the back that has all the months on it, and even invented a couple new months!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VydtofA5xKE/U9Lk9vMRt8I/AAAAAAAAGKg/d4EtHgxcE4w/s1600/DSC_6683.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VydtofA5xKE/U9Lk9vMRt8I/AAAAAAAAGKg/d4EtHgxcE4w/s1600/DSC_6683.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
For the quilting, I set up my Janome Horizon with this serpentine stitch. There were a lot of steps to set this up, but it turned out really well, and I can hardly wait to use it again.<br />
The thread I used is my favourite <a href="http://www.aurifil.com/">Aurifil</a> #2600 grey. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JapR7PKeV20/U9LlBtt3jZI/AAAAAAAAGKw/ztP1uykcUfQ/s1600/Serpentine%2BStitch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JapR7PKeV20/U9LlBtt3jZI/AAAAAAAAGKw/ztP1uykcUfQ/s1600/Serpentine%2BStitch.jpg" height="265" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wUpRjdwFRzs/U9LlJa1s1CI/AAAAAAAAGLA/R1dmwOa1emY/s1600/DSC_6730.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wUpRjdwFRzs/U9LlJa1s1CI/AAAAAAAAGLA/R1dmwOa1emY/s1600/DSC_6730.jpg" height="265" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RQjfYPtCFQM/U9LlP0r6UUI/AAAAAAAAGLQ/tKB_V5pRcqw/s1600/DSC_6739.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RQjfYPtCFQM/U9LlP0r6UUI/AAAAAAAAGLQ/tKB_V5pRcqw/s1600/DSC_6739.jpg" height="265" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm so happy with this quilt!!<br />
Thanks so much for stopping by, and please check out all the other entries in the Festival.<br />
I hope you have entered a quilt too!</div>

Hello, again!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the name of my latest quilt finish....and my completed goal for August's</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
ALYoF</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-W7uHsMtHif8/U_92-aiuYAI/AAAAAAAAGXA/S6T3ZuGNRsQ/s1600/Hello%2BAgain-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-W7uHsMtHif8/U_92-aiuYAI/AAAAAAAAGXA/S6T3ZuGNRsQ/s1600/Hello%2BAgain-2.jpg" height="265" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I really must say, I enjoyed saying hello again to so many favourite fabrics that I have used in other quilts and projects.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A fun way to scrap bust, as well as make a lovely quilt.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is a combination of 2 tutorials by the amazing Lori Holt from<a href="http://beeinmybonnetco.blogspot.ca/"> Bee In My Bonnet.</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Each block measure 16", so it goes together quite quickly.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is one of the blocks, which is called Scrappy Crossroads.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The cross is formed when joined with other blocks.</div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OxPR1g5vRJs/U95Kx6sqRnI/AAAAAAAAGPA/elKRYJ4nsjI/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OxPR1g5vRJs/U95Kx6sqRnI/AAAAAAAAGPA/elKRYJ4nsjI/s1600/photo.JPG" height="400" width="298" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The quilting is pretty straight forward...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
intersecting grid....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aFr0Yic0xZU/U_-FKQbVrbI/AAAAAAAAGbs/6A_cigATgzg/s1600/DSC_6858.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aFr0Yic0xZU/U_-FKQbVrbI/AAAAAAAAGbs/6A_cigATgzg/s1600/DSC_6858.jpg" height="265" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For the binding, I used a golden yellow and white wide stripe.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oMBv9RXjNV4/U_924wI-x5I/AAAAAAAAGWw/N2F1PNpS0aY/s1600/binding.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oMBv9RXjNV4/U_924wI-x5I/AAAAAAAAGWw/N2F1PNpS0aY/s1600/binding.jpg" height="263" width="400" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tXuAqDS3IMI/U_926yS2GbI/AAAAAAAAGW4/87kEkwCMQYg/s1600/DSC_6833.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tXuAqDS3IMI/U_926yS2GbI/AAAAAAAAGW4/87kEkwCMQYg/s1600/DSC_6833.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The backing is a multi dot fabric I got from a local fabric shop. I think it picks up all the colours in the quilt top!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-G-ZxIC52EmI/U_93M4gUwvI/AAAAAAAAGXg/woZfnnEHDyE/s1600/DSC_6850.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-G-ZxIC52EmI/U_93M4gUwvI/AAAAAAAAGXg/woZfnnEHDyE/s1600/DSC_6850.jpg" height="250" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This lap quilt measures 51" x 66"</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Last year I watched the fun on Lily Pad Quilting, as a huge number of pet lovers showed off their precious friends.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u><b>Cats on Quilts category</b></u> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, this year I decided to join in and show you Kissa and Sheriti, my two female Egyptian Mau cats.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zelWzK00AXs/U-F9oHBnKkI/AAAAAAAAGSo/gVbuhbTOPZw/s1600/DSC_6371.-1JPG.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It doesn't matter how small I fold a quilt, they find a way to both fit on it!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
They do like to sleep curled up together..</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is Sheriti, a tiny little girl who loves to spend the day in my sewing room with me. She pre-tests everything! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nf9OiGKrDZk/U-GCokbVgSI/AAAAAAAAGT8/Da_fec_Copk/s1600/photo-11.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nf9OiGKrDZk/U-GCokbVgSI/AAAAAAAAGT8/Da_fec_Copk/s1600/photo-11.JPG" height="320" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
She is also asthmatic, and uses an inhaler....</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
yes, you read it right!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
This is Kissa, who would much rather wait for the finished quilt! </div>

The Dog Days of Summer are upon us, and I admit that I love the heat!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Although, it seems I do spend more time indoors than I did when I was younger!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Maybe because I have a sewing machine that is calling to me on a daily basis!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Since finishing my July quilt, I was wondering if I would have a quilt to work on in August, or if something else would come along.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have started a Weekender, but that isn't my goal for this month! Lol!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As luck would have it, Lori Holt posted 2 tutorials on Instagram for fantastic scrap busting blocks called Scrappy Crossroads and Two by Four.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Because she has so many requests to also post them on her blog-<a href="http://beeinmybonnetco.blogspot.ca/2014/07/my-scrappy-cross-roads-block-tutorial.html"> Bee In My Bonnet,</a> she did!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, my goal is to finish this quilt top!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm off to a pretty good start, I think!<br />
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qWDRm95VzF8/U91m0svfcnI/AAAAAAAAGNw/ruWG65F2gGY/s1600/Scrappy+Crossroads+blocks.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qWDRm95VzF8/U91m0svfcnI/AAAAAAAAGNw/ruWG65F2gGY/s1600/Scrappy+Crossroads+blocks.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The best part, is making a big dent in my scrap pile!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, I'm off to link up at Fiber of All Sorts for</div>

For July, I set what I believed to be an <a href="http://retiredtoquilt.blogspot.ca/2014/07/alyof-july-goalsetting.html">achievable goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes!</a><br />
I am so happy to be finished this quilt, and it really was fun to do!<br />
Pathways! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oQvTiYYes1w/U9LlFl1B9_I/AAAAAAAAGK4/St0ChNKEs9k/s1600/Pathwaysjpg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oQvTiYYes1w/U9LlFl1B9_I/AAAAAAAAGK4/St0ChNKEs9k/s1600/Pathwaysjpg.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It started out as a challenge to myself to try HRT's using the tutorial from Latifah at <a href="http://themodernquiltguild.wordpress.com/2012/01/08/100-days-week-of-shapes-tutorial">The Quilt Engineer.</a> She posted this as a tutorial for the MQG.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fegNNpPrGk8/U9LvGZXWbMI/AAAAAAAAGL4/bik1t-JlFho/s1600/photo%253D2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fegNNpPrGk8/U9LvGZXWbMI/AAAAAAAAGL4/bik1t-JlFho/s1600/photo%253D2.JPG" height="320" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I sliced and diced, pressed and trimmed!<br />
I must admit that I am not a fan of pressing seams open,<br />
but I did it anyway. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Low volume with pink, purple, yellow, black and coral..ish!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Whew! I was happy to get all these blocks done!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I did look at a couple layouts, but it seemed that simple was the way to go!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wUpRjdwFRzs/U9LlJa1s1CI/AAAAAAAAGLA/R1dmwOa1emY/s1600/DSC_6730.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wUpRjdwFRzs/U9LlJa1s1CI/AAAAAAAAGLA/R1dmwOa1emY/s1600/DSC_6730.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I spray basted and pinned with a little help....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y4bUhxgSDns/U9LvDuxvd9I/AAAAAAAAGLw/LaC4CNuxyus/s1600/photo-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y4bUhxgSDns/U9LvDuxvd9I/AAAAAAAAGLw/LaC4CNuxyus/s1600/photo-1.JPG" height="320" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JW3De52r3so/U9Lu9gMJlZI/AAAAAAAAGLg/EKpX6qr22ng/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JW3De52r3so/U9Lu9gMJlZI/AAAAAAAAGLg/EKpX6qr22ng/s1600/photo+1.JPG" height="320" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The backing is from a fabric line called 8 Days A Week.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I used the months line. Really nice backing and I would definitely use it again!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I didn't have enough to match when I pieced the back, so ended up with some new months!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gAQnGc9iSzA/U9L4L6LVj5I/AAAAAAAAGMI/qDlYZNTltsE/s1600/photo-3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gAQnGc9iSzA/U9L4L6LVj5I/AAAAAAAAGMI/qDlYZNTltsE/s1600/photo-3.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I really want to change my birthday to Fovember! Don't you??</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
On to the quilting!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have a Janome Horizon, and programmed a stitch provided by Janome, called Serpentine stitch.<br />
<span style="color: #cc0000;"><b>Here is the actual link to setting up the Serpentine Stitch-</b></span><br />
<span style="color: #cc0000;"><b> </b></span> http://onlinesewing.squarespace.com/storage/post-images/poth2.pdf</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This was the first time I have used it, and I sure do love it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JapR7PKeV20/U9LlBtt3jZI/AAAAAAAAGKw/ztP1uykcUfQ/s1600/Serpentine+Stitch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JapR7PKeV20/U9LlBtt3jZI/AAAAAAAAGKw/ztP1uykcUfQ/s1600/Serpentine+Stitch.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I put 3 rows in each path, and it was so quick, and gives the quilt great texture.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The best part of the Serpentine stitch is that it is and end to end stitch!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
No burying thread!! Yay for that!</div>
As always, I used <a href="http://www.aurifil.com/SiteAurifil/HOME.html">Aurifil</a> thread!! Love it!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is #2600, and I use so much of it, for piecing and quilting.<br />
For me, it is the perfect grey. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The binding fabric is a really nice grey stripe that I had in my stash.<br />
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DGIh6Ke5p9Q/U9LlMXviDyI/AAAAAAAAGLI/NNqlzueWlzQ/s1600/DSC_6735.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DGIh6Ke5p9Q/U9LlMXviDyI/AAAAAAAAGLI/NNqlzueWlzQ/s1600/DSC_6735.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This little darling measures 52"x59"<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RQjfYPtCFQM/U9LlP0r6UUI/AAAAAAAAGLQ/tKB_V5pRcqw/s1600/DSC_6739.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RQjfYPtCFQM/U9LlP0r6UUI/AAAAAAAAGLQ/tKB_V5pRcqw/s1600/DSC_6739.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am tremendously pleased with this July finish, and am linking up for<br />

Also featured today is Krista @ <a href="http://poppyprintcreates.blogspot.ca/">Poppyprint,</a> who gets a gorgeous view of Vancouver from her sewing room!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Oh no, I'm not jealous! Ha!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, stop in and say hello!</div>

Alrighty then!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After a miserable showing for June, I have reset and refocused. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It also helps that I love what I'm working on for my July goal!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KNOtQhfZKOw/U7dldxlaBGI/AAAAAAAAGKA/j7qmnQfpmYA/s1600/IMG_0426.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KNOtQhfZKOw/U7dldxlaBGI/AAAAAAAAGKA/j7qmnQfpmYA/s1600/IMG_0426.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
While I'm completely over making these HRTs with the seemingly endless marking fabric,trimming blocks, and pressing seams open, I do love how they look. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I think the layout I finally decided on is pretty as well. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, I just need to get the layout nailed down, blocks sewn together, and quilt it!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Easy Peasy!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Oh yeah, I also have to buy a new face plate for my machine! A spring must have sprung, and shifted the plate, because while I was sewing the needle suddenly hit the plate and everything broke!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Scared the crap out of me, too!<br />
Good luck to everyone setting their goals for July.<br />
Hope you are enjoying your summer as much as I am, especially now that we finally have it!<br />

Apparently setting goals is so much easier than actually accomplishing them! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I was supposed to have my Michael Miller Challenge project done for this month, but it just didn't happen. The same pieced strips are sitting in a pile somewhere waiting to be magically transformed into something beautiful...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-scic8XZ8ot4/U45KRqXMINI/AAAAAAAAGFY/fwiNTUJC3-s/s1600/Michael+Miller+fabric+challenge+2014jpg.jpg" height="212" width="320" /> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I just wasn't all that inspired, so it still sits. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My time hasn't been completely wasteful though. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I did put a quilt together! It is a baby quilt, and I was pattern testing! So much fun!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Photos at a later date. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also managed to add a few more items to The Tutorial & Fabric Busting Project. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vXlE939EfkY/U7Cru12MCuI/AAAAAAAAGIU/9YWXtvKj0nA/s1600/DSC_6382.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vXlE939EfkY/U7Cru12MCuI/AAAAAAAAGIU/9YWXtvKj0nA/s1600/DSC_6382.JPG" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hadn't made any open wide zippered pouches for a while, so I made 2!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm just a tad disappointed in my ongoing Economy Blocks quilt.<br />
I seriously thought I had done so many, but it turns out to be only 46!<br />
Good thing I'm not on a deadline with this.<br />
They are fun to do though, so I'll keep at it... <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Hv7w8K2Xjro/U7CvkMC_EoI/AAAAAAAAGJY/kgjq_CKRQyc/s1600/DSC_6045.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Hv7w8K2Xjro/U7CvkMC_EoI/AAAAAAAAGJY/kgjq_CKRQyc/s1600/DSC_6045.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
So, I'll be back in a couple of days to post July's goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes!<br />
I'm sure I'll get this one done, as I love it so!<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
Luckily, this goal decision is an easy one for me...sort of...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The Saskatoon MQG is participating in the Michael Miller fabric challenge with the MQG.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We were given fabric from the collection Petal Pinwheels, which is really a gorgeous line..</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I decided to make a new table runner, and try some improv piecing.....</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Oh, oh!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
What was I thinking???<br />
Why can't I be more like <a href="http://citricsugar.blogspot.ca/">Carly</a>, who does amazing improv!<br />
Or <a href="http://www.thequiltingedge.com/">Marianne </a>who says "just slice it. It's only fabric"<br />
Apparently I need direction and some sort of rules!<br />
LOL! <br />
I took my fabric, and sewed a few panels together, but now I am stuck.<br />
See, I had no plan! I thought an idea would just magically appear.<br />
uh...nope...didn't happen!<br />
So here they have sat for 2 weeks now, giving me the stink eye!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-scic8XZ8ot4/U45KRqXMINI/AAAAAAAAGEo/EXHO9-mpufo/s1600/Michael+Miller+fabric+challenge+2014jpg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-scic8XZ8ot4/U45KRqXMINI/AAAAAAAAGEo/EXHO9-mpufo/s1600/Michael+Miller+fabric+challenge+2014jpg.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
I have until the end of the month to make some magic :-)<br />
Well, I guess I'll just start slicing...<br />
Wish me luck!</div>

<a href="http://fiberofallsorts.blogspot.com/p/2014-lovely-year-of-finishes.html" title="A Lovely Year of Finishes"> <img alt="A Lovely Year of Finishes" src="http://blog.sewbittersweetdesigns.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/image002.jpg" height="180" style="border: none;" width="180" /></a><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Three short days ago I was expecting to write a post full of lame excuses about why I didn't get my May project done......</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-I3EXCuZgYiw/UCpclekHkoI/AAAAAAAAEGc/IhzPgQDsbRE/s1600/DSC_3816-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-I3EXCuZgYiw/UCpclekHkoI/AAAAAAAAEGc/IhzPgQDsbRE/s1600/DSC_3816-1.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then a whiny inner voice got the better of me, and I got to work on it!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The top was already done in 2012, so I don't know why I had such a hard time getting this little quilt finished.. It is made with vintage striped sheets, a few solids, and is a disappearing 9 patch pattern.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iiUtkH-CqfU/U4iUuIOGSKI/AAAAAAAAGDk/Y27j_Wkq5rA/s1600/DSC_6361.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iiUtkH-CqfU/U4iUuIOGSKI/AAAAAAAAGDk/Y27j_Wkq5rA/s1600/DSC_6361.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I had this cotton/poly sheet purchased quite a while ago for another project, I think. So, I washed it and used it as the backing.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The leaves inspired the quilting, and I remember seeing a FMQ pattern somewhere on a blog, and stored it in my tiny brain!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-paQKuN8H2Uo/U4iUw3aJ6FI/AAAAAAAAGDs/rtjtwIsVAC8/s1600/DSC_6367.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-paQKuN8H2Uo/U4iUw3aJ6FI/AAAAAAAAGDs/rtjtwIsVAC8/s1600/DSC_6367.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6v7trqDMY_M/U4iUzBd044I/AAAAAAAAGD0/nzy2NiFBdlQ/s1600/DSC_6368.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6v7trqDMY_M/U4iUzBd044I/AAAAAAAAGD0/nzy2NiFBdlQ/s1600/DSC_6368.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I Love, love this FMQ pattern! It is very forgiving, and you can easily get out of any corner you find yourself in by just adding some leaf vines or pebbles! The only time I broke thread was when the bobbin ran out!<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I used my favourite Aurifil thread #2021 in the 50wt. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I really like the kind of squared off flower petals too. This is definitely one I will use again.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I wish I could remember where I saw it, to give credit...I really should write that stuff down!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I can lead you to some FMQ tutorials from<a href="http://theinboxjaunt.com/quilt/free-motion-quilting-tutorials/"> Lori Kennedy @ The Inbox Jaunt.</a>.... seriously, she has some amazing, detailed, and fun tutorials.</div>
Go check them out! the turtle!!!!<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Hvy26-w9Owc/U4iU1EZtYsI/AAAAAAAAGD8/HYX9NlwUFTE/s1600/rounded+cornersjpg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Hvy26-w9Owc/U4iU1EZtYsI/AAAAAAAAGD8/HYX9NlwUFTE/s1600/rounded+cornersjpg.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After squaring it up, I decided to try the rounded corner approach for the binding. I did cut the binding on the bias, which takes no longer than regular cutting.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
No mitered corners is a really nice change! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I don't know what the fabric is, just something taking up space in my much too cluttered stash! It definitely has a vintage look to it, so it seemed appropriate for this quilt. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iiUtkH-CqfU/U4iUuIOGSKI/AAAAAAAAGDk/Y27j_Wkq5rA/s1600/DSC_6361.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iiUtkH-CqfU/U4iUuIOGSKI/AAAAAAAAGDk/Y27j_Wkq5rA/s1600/DSC_6361.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, here it is all finished, and I must admit, looking kinda pretty!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I think I like it after all!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Measures 45"x54"</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sz8s924djzc/U4iVbRdOyAI/AAAAAAAAGEI/n6rJZvmZGOA/s1600/DSC_6373.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sz8s924djzc/U4iVbRdOyAI/AAAAAAAAGEI/n6rJZvmZGOA/s1600/DSC_6373.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And, of course, the obligatory cat on quilt photo!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I don't know why it is always Kissa and not Sheriti, but she is very photogenic!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well, that's it for today. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have to start thinking about my June goal!</div>

My first time participating in the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway, and I received so many lovely comments on the Sew Together Bag I was giving away. It appears that I was not the only one who had some difficulty with this bag!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The winner of this bag was Lisa E, and it is already in the mail and on the way to her!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another giveaway I was hosting last week was for an amazing pattern called Canvas by Leanne @<a href="http://www.shecanquilt.ca/">shecanquilt</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nkMxvnPVqVo/U2lK-cbIJ2I/AAAAAAAAF7E/XNBTJ9aeIqM/s1600/Canvas-+a+colour+study.jpg">Here</a> is the cushion I made using the pattern. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The winner of this pattern is Crickets Corner, and I have sent her an e-mail.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thanks so much to everyone for stopping by for these giveaways.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We are finally getting some Spring like weather here!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Although it rained yesterday, we have some beautiful sunshine today and the flowers are loving it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So I won't be spending the day at my sewing machine!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Over the week-end I did a bunch of sewing. I don't know if anyone else is like this, but I have probably a hundred tutorials for different crafts bookmarked on my computer. It seems I just keep adding to the pile and rarely get back to them. I have decided it is high time I either did them or deleted them!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hence, <i><b>The Tutorial & Fabric Busting Project</b></i></div>

The first one I did was actually a new one! Well, I had to start somewhere, right!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UQtYNyhudg4/U3aHZSdGC6I/AAAAAAAAGC0/J3HBw3hpWl4/s1600/Scraptastic+BasketCollage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UQtYNyhudg4/U3aHZSdGC6I/AAAAAAAAGC0/J3HBw3hpWl4/s1600/Scraptastic+BasketCollage.jpg" height="160" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I really liked this sturdy basket called <a href="http://emmalinebags.blogspot.ca/2014/05/free-sewing-tutorial-scraptastic-basket.html?showComment=1400076086663#c2080048468616849192">Scraptastic Basket</a> by Janelle.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
All of my perle cotton and embroidery stuff fits in it easily.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
#2</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've been wanting to make this<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/elnorachambers/8549250625/"> triangle pouch by Elnora</a> for a while now.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HQlOWV1cp70/U3aGe-3CcqI/AAAAAAAAGB0/Qq_J4h2Zx1Y/s1600/DSC_6321.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HQlOWV1cp70/U3aGe-3CcqI/AAAAAAAAGB0/Qq_J4h2Zx1Y/s1600/DSC_6321.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This was fun and easy to do! I am using it for my Wonder Clips and the fifty I have barely cover the bottom! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
#3</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I was fortunate enough to win a scrap bundle of Liberty from Camille of</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://queenbeefabrics.com/">queenbeefabrics</a> on Instagram!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I also purchased some lace zippers ages ago that have been sitting in a bin waiting to be used!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cwTOJ0Iic9g/U3aGnK0UNfI/AAAAAAAAGCU/QQ6_qaD-L8k/s1600/Come+Sail+Away-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cwTOJ0Iic9g/U3aGnK0UNfI/AAAAAAAAGCU/QQ6_qaD-L8k/s1600/Come+Sail+Away-2.jpg" height="217" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I called it Come Sail Away, because the Liberty twists reminded me of sails!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A great tutorial @ <a href="http://shockinghocking.blogspot.com.au/2012/01/twisted-tutorial.html">Shocking Hocking </a>for the twists.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The rest of the pouch was just winging it! I should have made it a little smaller to hide the metal ends of the zipper, but too bad! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Maybe next time...I have 4 or 5 more zippers!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_WwiVd-3jak/U3aGiVXarQI/AAAAAAAAGCE/C2L_iJwVsis/s1600/Come+Sail+Away-3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_WwiVd-3jak/U3aGiVXarQI/AAAAAAAAGCE/C2L_iJwVsis/s1600/Come+Sail+Away-3.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I also found this tiny piece of Liberty in a small 2.5" bundle I purchased ages ago and haven't used. See....it's sails! I felt compelled to add it to the pouch as a hexie! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I know, you're wondering if I'll <i><b>ever</b></i> be done with this post, but that's what happens when I am a lazy blogger...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
#4 </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now these are just toooo cute for words!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hNS3OEVnlVc/U3u5solzuDI/AAAAAAAAGDE/ns6bbqF8mcg/s1600/Fabric+Berry+Basketsjpg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hNS3OEVnlVc/U3u5solzuDI/AAAAAAAAGDE/ns6bbqF8mcg/s1600/Fabric+Berry+Basketsjpg.jpg" height="211" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Am I right, or am I right!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.noodle-head.com/2013/08/fabric-berry-basket-diy-tutorial.html">Fabric Berry Baskets</a>....one large and two small.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I already have the large one filled with cords for phone, ipod etc...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
One of the small ones is holding keys at the front door.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Seriously, a million uses for these, and they were pretty easy to do too. The binding on the small ones were a bit of a challenge, but certainly doable.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Okay, that it for my TTFBP (I'm certainly not writing it out every time!)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'll leave you with a last look at the two Sew Together Bags I have made so far.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
While they are not part of my "official" TTFBP, I just love them and the first one beat the crap out of me....so I'll take every opportunity to show it!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
first one...... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SKewzwT9aX0/U3aG8CNXlZI/AAAAAAAAGCc/_vCD-K-P8UY/s1600/Sew+Together+Bag+collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SKewzwT9aX0/U3aG8CNXlZI/AAAAAAAAGCc/_vCD-K-P8UY/s1600/Sew+Together+Bag+collage.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
second one...(for the giveaway)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eiKW6gaSlN4/U3aHNsV_OHI/AAAAAAAAGCk/LLAXeideLPM/s1600/Image.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eiKW6gaSlN4/U3aHNsV_OHI/AAAAAAAAGCk/LLAXeideLPM/s1600/Image.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
That's all for today....</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
maybe bee blocks next time!</div>

I was really unprepared, but this is always so much fun, I decided to add a recently finished postage stamp, scrappy quilt.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Sorry about the photo bomb by Kissa!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I had mounds of fabric on the floor of my sewing room while putting this together....and still, it seems like I hardly used up any of my scraps!</div>

A few short weeks ago, Leanne @ <a href="http://www.shecanquilt.ca/">shecanquilt</a> ,shared her pattern called Canvas and asked me to test one of the sizes!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The choices were amazing! There are 13 different size options in this pattern, and Leanne has made charts for fabric requirements and cutting of each size.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There is everything from a mug rug to a king size quilt. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I wanted to make a new cushion/pillow and followed the chart.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Picking colours is always fun and nerve wracking at the same time for me!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Because I wanted to make mine in solids, I went with colours that I had in my stash!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Believe me, solids isn't the only way to go.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Take a look at Leanne's fabulous fabric choices on her <a href="http://www.shecanquilt.ca/">blog</a>, and if you are on Instagram check out #canvasquilt</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, here is the cushion I made....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nkMxvnPVqVo/U2lK-cbIJ2I/AAAAAAAAF7E/XNBTJ9aeIqM/s1600/Canvas-+a+colour+study.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nkMxvnPVqVo/U2lK-cbIJ2I/AAAAAAAAF7E/XNBTJ9aeIqM/s1600/Canvas-+a+colour+study.jpg" height="320" width="292" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Love the colour play of light and dark! Leanne gives lots of help for picking colours in her pattern.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When it came to quilting, I really wanted to be a copycat and do the matchstick quilting that Leanne does so artfully.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SoAoa7OhhF0/U2_aXQKLw7I/AAAAAAAAF9k/4NIU0SZeCLg/s1600/DSC_6286.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SoAoa7OhhF0/U2_aXQKLw7I/AAAAAAAAF9k/4NIU0SZeCLg/s1600/DSC_6286.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oW0APY5T4qI/U3VVTUGfzEI/AAAAAAAAGBQ/gHPuybQYlR8/s1600/Canvas-+Colourplay.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oW0APY5T4qI/U3VVTUGfzEI/AAAAAAAAGBQ/gHPuybQYlR8/s1600/Canvas-+Colourplay.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, I did some rows of matchstick in the borders, and then did more of a grid for the centre.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A beautiful Aurifil 40wt thread #2566 was used.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Gosh, I love this colour! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ugUbHw84J2w/U3VVWZV2ybI/AAAAAAAAGBY/48siJsCzclw/s1600/Canvas-+Colourplay+-Aurifil.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ugUbHw84J2w/U3VVWZV2ybI/AAAAAAAAGBY/48siJsCzclw/s1600/Canvas-+Colourplay+-Aurifil.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You can see a bit of the Chicopee I have hoarded to use for backing!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I used my always favourite covered zipper closure. Sorry, didn't take a photo, but you can find the tutorial at <a href="http://www.sewmamasew.com/2011/02/add-a-zipper-to-your-pillow/#.T_eVY_UoNQs">Sew Mama Sew</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

Yes, the day has arrived!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.sewmamasew.com/2014/05/giveaway-day-handmade-items-2/">Sew Mama Sew giveaway day</a>...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I finally got organized enough to participate this year!<br />
I am pleased to be offering up this </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sew Together Bag from the pattern by <a href="http://sewdemented.wordpress.com/">Sew Demented</a>. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KL4e8NvfIlU/U2_bQKnY_DI/AAAAAAAAF-o/InZUZl3YGps/s1600/Image.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KL4e8NvfIlU/U2_bQKnY_DI/AAAAAAAAF-o/InZUZl3YGps/s1600/Image.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The first time I made this bag was about a week ago, so I thought I'd better get a second one done before I forgot how to put it together!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Definitely not the easiest of patterns, but the end result is worth the angst!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I sewed some fabric strips onto batting for the outer layer, and then proceeded with the pattern.<br />
A little Tula Pink love for the pockets! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I did the pocket zippers a little differently. Using a 12" zipper, I marked 9", and then sewed a fabric tab to each end. For me, this looks neater and avoids the possibility of hitting the metal ends of the shorter zip. After the zippers were sewn on, I then trimmed off the excess zipper. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Don't forget to move your zipper pull to the centre before putting on the tab!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XoyUmaChMZI/U2_bZv2oTwI/AAAAAAAAF-0/YkHID245VAs/s1600/Image2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XoyUmaChMZI/U2_bZv2oTwI/AAAAAAAAF-0/YkHID245VAs/s1600/Image2.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
I also added a little dragonfly charm as a zipper pull.<br />
On my first bag, I sewed the binding to the front and then handstitched it to the lining. So, for this one, I did as the pattern says and machine stitched to the lining, and then also machine stitched on the front.<br />
I think it turned out pretty well, although I like the cleaner line of the hand stitching. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fPU_RSQzNws/U2_a5ya4kAI/AAAAAAAAF-Q/rjAB4vFxcPw/s1600/zipper+pull.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fPU_RSQzNws/U2_a5ya4kAI/AAAAAAAAF-Q/rjAB4vFxcPw/s1600/zipper+pull.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

Well, I'm still basking in the happiness of finishing my April goal, but it's time to put that aside and get busy with May's goal!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I had this one languishing in the WIP bin since last year, so it's earned a spot in ALYoF!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-I3EXCuZgYiw/UCpclekHkoI/AAAAAAAAEGc/IhzPgQDsbRE/s1600/DSC_3816-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-I3EXCuZgYiw/UCpclekHkoI/AAAAAAAAEGc/IhzPgQDsbRE/s1600/DSC_3816-1.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is Vintage Nine Patch and is made with striped vintage sheets.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, the top is done, but it needs to be quilted!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
That's my goal. I may have to find a full sheet to use as the backing for it too.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As always, linking up to </div>

Yay for the end of April, and hopefully the last of the never-ending winter!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I had some fun with my April project.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It all started with a bundle of Eclectic Elements by Tim Holtz, and a few Textured Solids ( really wish I had used more colours).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I made a big pile of Plus blocks which finish at 11"</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-O2UvXgEsWbA/Uw5R5OB4QpI/AAAAAAAAFxY/k7k2l2Qpkns/s1600/DSC_5981.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-O2UvXgEsWbA/Uw5R5OB4QpI/AAAAAAAAFxY/k7k2l2Qpkns/s1600/DSC_5981.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RnVogcv_eog/Uw5R3R1RXpI/AAAAAAAAFxQ/FkvbNlPmgR8/s1600/DSC_5979.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RnVogcv_eog/Uw5R3R1RXpI/AAAAAAAAFxQ/FkvbNlPmgR8/s1600/DSC_5979.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
These blocks are really quick to do, and chain piecing makes them even faster.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I had a few extra blocks after picking a layout I liked, and decided to incorporate them into the back. Which made me remember that Sarah @<a href="http://www.sewwhatsherlock.com/"> Sew What Sherlock?</a> has converted the pieced X and + block to a paper pieced block in three different sizes! Yay Sarah!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So. I made a few of those as well, and a backing was born!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hArxyTlAFlM/U03ah-8YK7I/AAAAAAAAF3Y/wdKVfisXRw0/s1600/photo13.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hArxyTlAFlM/U03ah-8YK7I/AAAAAAAAF3Y/wdKVfisXRw0/s1600/photo13.JPG" height="320" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
They grey I used for the back is a really nice linen that I got a couple years ago at a local fabric shop.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I had an idea for the quilting the Plus portion of the block right from the start. At a Quilt Show, I bought a really nice variegated spool of thread by Sulky. I haven't used anything but Aurifil for over a year now, but didn't have the colour I needed.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I think my machine has become an Aurifil snob!! I had terrible problems using this new thread. While I had Aurifil 50wt #2600 in the bobbin, I had constant breakage of the Sulky. I used a 90/14 topstitch needle that usually works really well me, but not this time! I then realized that the Sulky was a 30wt, which may have been the problem! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I used my FMQ foot to avoid turning the quilt so much, so the lines are very organic!! Oddly enough, I had less thread breakage going side to side, rather than up and down. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Once I was finished the Plus sections, I switched to Aurifil, and heaved a sigh of relief!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I do love the colour of the variegated thread though! Yellow, orange, green and a bit of purple which adds a real pop of colour.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RYY__lf53dc/U1saToHowLI/AAAAAAAAF4E/VS5SbzL3jM8/s1600/DSC_6202.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RYY__lf53dc/U1saToHowLI/AAAAAAAAF4E/VS5SbzL3jM8/s1600/DSC_6202.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In all the background corners (4 per block), I did a FMQ leaf.<br />
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is a bit of it on the back, with some thread that needed to be picked out! I had a lot of this on the back!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_4ztAhNp-Bk/U1saVRF6N3I/AAAAAAAAF4M/y79XXIfrP2Q/s1600/DSC_6206.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_4ztAhNp-Bk/U1saVRF6N3I/AAAAAAAAF4M/y79XXIfrP2Q/s1600/DSC_6206.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It took me a whole day to bury all the darn threads.<br />
<br />
Sure don't like that part!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The stripe binding is another print from the Eclectic Elements line, and I think finished off the quilt so nicely.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NmZicucEQ_4/U1saXcE0XtI/AAAAAAAAF4U/xyiFaxSVAVE/s1600/DSC_6209.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NmZicucEQ_4/U1saXcE0XtI/AAAAAAAAF4U/xyiFaxSVAVE/s1600/DSC_6209.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I tried something new! Labeling quilts just never gets done, so I decided to try a method I saw in somewhere land!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I folded a 6" block into a triangle and added it to a bottom corner and it was sewn in with the binding. I added a decorative machine stitch across the fold of the triangle and hand stitched it to the back after the binding was on.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I think it turned out pretty well, I just need to work on my hand writing next time!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

It's snowing cats and dogs, and I can't get my finished quilt photographed today, so I thought I'd post about a few other things!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Maybe some pictures of Bee blocks!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Loved doing these paper pieced circles for Marika. They are for our <a href="https://www.flickr.com/groups/2047948@N21/">Happiness Circle @ do. Good Stitches</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
She did a little photo tutorial on Flickr.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I don't remember if I posted these already, but they are the blocks from the first 4 months of <a href="https://www.flickr.com/groups/canadiansquiltbee/">Canadians Quilt {bee}</a>. The blocks these ladies are choosing are really great!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />I know I posted photos of my latest Boyd St. Bowling Bag purse, but I followed that up with a matching Necessary Clutch Wallet!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Both patterns are from <a href="http://www.emmalinebags.com/">Emmaline Bags.</a> I just love Janelle's patterns!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
She also has great hardware, like zipper pulls.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then, I went and joined the<a href="https://www.flickr.com/groups/packpatch/"> Pack Patch Mini QAL</a>! Each week we make a tiny patchwork block based on a theme chosen by <a href="http://quarterinchmark.blogspot.ca/">Chase from Quarter Inch Mark</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The great thing is that they take only minutes to sew up. The fun comes in picking fabric to match the theme!</div>

Say, what!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well, it's just been ages since I have done a WIP Wednesday post, let alone blogged at all!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have lots of sewing projects on the go, but have really lost the urge to blog about them much. What's with that, I wonder?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Maybe it's too much time on Instagram, which I recently joined!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, onto my most recent WIP.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have called it Elementary, and the fabrics are Eclectic Elements and Textured Solids.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-O2UvXgEsWbA/Uw5R5OB4QpI/AAAAAAAAFxY/k7k2l2Qpkns/s1600/DSC_5981.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-O2UvXgEsWbA/Uw5R5OB4QpI/AAAAAAAAFxY/k7k2l2Qpkns/s1600/DSC_5981.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I started making a bunch of Plus blocks, which are just so quick to do.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, in no time at all, I had them all done.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DwUbb6EMLtY/U03Y6codODI/AAAAAAAAF3E/2vdiix80Vww/s1600/top+completedjpg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DwUbb6EMLtY/U03Y6codODI/AAAAAAAAF3E/2vdiix80Vww/s1600/top+completedjpg.jpg" height="320" width="271" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This week, I drew out a very rudimentary plan for the backing.....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eMQgp06XbHI/U03Y8i8xumI/AAAAAAAAF3M/ZFhLBN1ss80/s1600/DSC_6174.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eMQgp06XbHI/U03Y8i8xumI/AAAAAAAAF3M/ZFhLBN1ss80/s1600/DSC_6174.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
very low, low tech!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Because had a few leftover blocks, I wanted to put them on the back.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I also did a few different sizes of paper pieced x&+ blocks. Sarah from <a href="http://www.sewwhatsherlock.com/category/paper-pieced-patterns/free-paper-pieced-patterns/">Sew What Sherlock</a> has made her paper pieced patterns available for free! She has </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
them in 8", 6" and3". So cool, and fun!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hArxyTlAFlM/U03ah-8YK7I/AAAAAAAAF3Y/wdKVfisXRw0/s1600/photo13.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hArxyTlAFlM/U03ah-8YK7I/AAAAAAAAF3Y/wdKVfisXRw0/s1600/photo13.JPG" height="320" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So I hope to get this quilt back finished, and basted this week. Maybe even start quilting it!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'll be linking up to </div>

Like a big dummy, I forgot to link up my March finish in time! I kept waiting for nice picture taking weather, and that just didn't happen.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'll do a separate post about it :-)...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, it's on to April's goal which is my Plus quilt using a bundle of Eclectic Elements and Textured solids.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RnVogcv_eog/Uw5R3R1RXpI/AAAAAAAAFxQ/FkvbNlPmgR8/s1600/DSC_5979.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RnVogcv_eog/Uw5R3R1RXpI/AAAAAAAAFxQ/FkvbNlPmgR8/s1600/DSC_5979.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-O2UvXgEsWbA/Uw5R5OB4QpI/AAAAAAAAFxY/k7k2l2Qpkns/s1600/DSC_5981.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-O2UvXgEsWbA/Uw5R5OB4QpI/AAAAAAAAFxY/k7k2l2Qpkns/s1600/DSC_5981.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have most of the blocks done, so I need to figure out a layout and backing, and then put this baby together.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So far, I am really liking this one, so I hope it finishes as well as it started!<br />
I'll be linking up for April! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

We are told that it is Spring, even though it is -18 today! However, we have had some really nice days with a lot of the snow melting, so I guess a couple more "winter" days isn't the end of the world!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Not that we get any say in it anyway!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In honour of the coming warmer weather, I decided to make another<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61289695@N06/9989960513/in/set-72157631707782183"> Boyd St Bowling Bag.</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is a wonderful Pattern from Janelle at <a href="http://www.emmalinebags.com/">Emmaline Bags</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GTnjb1J-8IA/Uyxmel-4LiI/AAAAAAAAF0E/nA-fPN1avYE/s1600/Boyd+St+Bowling+Bag+%25232.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GTnjb1J-8IA/Uyxmel-4LiI/AAAAAAAAF0E/nA-fPN1avYE/s1600/Boyd+St+Bowling+Bag+%25232.jpg" height="293" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I decided to "upgrade" my fabrics this time! Instead of the Walmart cotton duck, I used Koi canvas by Rashida Coleman-Hale for the main exterior body.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The yellow flower fabric is by Erin McMorris, called Floradots from the La Dee Da collection. The yellow leather handles I got on Etsy- don't actually remember which shop.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The other big thing I changed, was to use <a href="https://www.byannie.com/">byannie's Soft & Stable</a> as the interfacing for the exterior fabrics. Wow! Is this amazing stuff or what!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The stability it gives to the bag is incredible, and it is so easy to sew with. I was a little nervous about it, because it is fairly thick, but absolutely no problem at all.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sEGy0-ZhC7U/UyxmgxGw6TI/AAAAAAAAF0M/_Skf929DWlU/s1600/inside+the+bag.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sEGy0-ZhC7U/UyxmgxGw6TI/AAAAAAAAF0M/_Skf929DWlU/s1600/inside+the+bag.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For the interior, I used Sunprint feathers. I lost the piece I cut for the bottom, and didn't have enough to recut. Seriously! How do you just lose a piece of fabric? It's not like I took it out for a walk and accidentally lost it! Sheesh, so darn annoying.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
But, as it turns out, I do like the Floradots on the bottom. I put the Soft & Stable on the lining piece instead of the exterior bottom. For the exterior bottom I used the Peltex and interfacing as described in the pattern. Worked really well.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GoolAH6ypEY/UyxmlYlLu7I/AAAAAAAAF0U/gzNWU2fZYYg/s1600/Zipper+pull.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GoolAH6ypEY/UyxmlYlLu7I/AAAAAAAAF0U/gzNWU2fZYYg/s1600/Zipper+pull.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A really cute "handmade" zipper pull that Janelle also sells in her shop. She has some new ones with a Canadian flag that I want to get soon!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, that's all I have to report for now!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm off to go shopping with my new bag!</div>
