WIP Wednesday
Well, this Circle of Geese block was destined for the back of Come Fly With Me.
However, I just wasn't in the mood to do a pieced back, and frankly, I want this quilt done! So I made this block into a pillow, and I'm really pleased with how it turned out. I use some Robert Kaufman Quilters' Linen in black for the borders and the envelope back.
Then, on to the quilt, which I finally spray basted with a plaid flannel backing, and started some strait line quilting.
Oops! I Did It Again!
This week for the TYSS , I did the small pinwheel blocks which were quick and easy to do. Then the next block was Dutchman's Puzzle. Grey Cat Quilts has a fantastic tutorial as part of the Skill Builder's Series, to make flying geese. The block is supposed to look like this:
I thought I had it all figured out, so I didn't have my computer on when I put it together..........you know what's coming right?
Totally wrong!! Good grief! So darn annoyed with myself for wasting time. Here are my blocks so far---
Hopefully, this week I can finish Come Fly With Me, and then finish cutting fabric for Drunkard's Path QAL. I was going to use a template, but I caved and bought a Go!baby die which will make is so much quicker!
Time to link up with Lee at Freshly Pieced. Have a great sewing week everyone!

Love your pillow, and your quilt.
That block may not be what you entended, but I'd call it a happy accident. That block is wonderful. I think I will have to go play with it and see what it would look like with a bunch of them. - 26 October 2011 at 08:23

I love the pillow! I know you've probably posted this before but what is the backround fabric? That would be perfect on my mom's sofa.

Lol I love it all! Particularly the oops block - I think in a repeat pattern it would give you a really funky shape in the black... Happy sewing x

Oh, Patti, you're even up with me, then - remember my Card Trick whoops? Your collection of blocks looks fantastic! Actually, I kind of like the whoops block - I put it into EQ7 and when you put a bunch of them together it creates exactly the same overall pattern as the "real" block.

What a wonderful pillow and quilt! You did a great job with the color placement and it makes your eyes just wander, taking it all in. I've been wanted to buy the Drunkard's Path die, so I'm curious to hear how you like it.

I love your circle of geese pillow - I have been thinking of making a pillow with that block, too. I love how you used the heath as the background! Looking forward to seeing your QAL blocks - and totally don't blame you for going the go! route, I probably would if I had one, too!
