I finally started my new quilt Path to Tallahassee, and I can tell this is going to be a very long project!
It starts with foundation piecing.....
a mere 16 of these blocks just to make one -12 inch block!!
or so I thought.......
you know that little one inch reference square on patterns?...I
probably should not have said "oh yeah, looks like an inch"
So..............
I now have a block that will measure 11 inches finished
love, love this Tallahassee block even with all the work it takes. And I think the Circle of Friends 1930''s style fabric looks great with it.
I was planning to use Kona snow or white, but at the last minute, I remembered that I had this gorgeous linen which adds some beautiful texture to the block...
it's helping me get over my measuring goof up!
The second block in the Path to Tallahassee is a Drunkard's Path....hence the Path part of the name!
I have a Go!baby with a DP die, so fabric cutting is very quick, and having just finished a DP quilt, my muscle memory for sewing the curves is still intact!!
Naturally, this is a 12" finished block.......so trimming was in order to match it to my stupidity of the Tallahassee block.....
I think it turned out pretty cute as well
I very briefly considered starting over with the correct sizes, but I had already printed and scored dozens of pages for Tallahassee, so I really didn't want to do that...
I also like that the trimmed petals of the DP put them closer together,
So, maybe it will be all good!!
Since I haven't decided on a size or layout for this quilt, I'll just keep making blocks until I am sick and tired of them!
