WIP Wednesday

Isn't it hard to believe that July is almost over!!
I've been enjoying our beautiful summer, but also getting some sewing time in before my brother arrives for a visit next month.
I'm pretty pleased to say that I finished a quilt top...
The Great Granny Along
which I named...
Who's Your Granny?
These are my 12 finished blocks
The fabric is all Flea Market Fancy and Katie Jump Rope.
The background is a white on white pattern which doesn't show up all that well in the photos, but it is a fantastic flowery print!
Then I spent a couple days adding gray and white sashing and borders.
The white is actually the same as the background fabric in the blocks.
I'm totally in love with this quilt!
Now, I have to piece a backing and figure out just how the heck I'm going to quilt it without ruining it!
*****
I am almost done my string quilt...my order of Kona navy arrived and I have only one more block to make and then I can piece it together.
Once that is done, I have to seriously figure out a block to send to May in The Star of Africa bee.
 Star of Africa
My month was June and the blocks are starting to arrive and are so freakin' gorgeous, I am terrified about messing up.
This is my first Bee and there are some seriously talented ladies in it!
I'm linking up at Freshly Pieced with today guest host,Colleen.

I'm getting so excited that the Olympics start in just 2 more days!
I'll be putting in some serious couch time.
Too bad I don't do EPP!
Maybe I should do some hand quilting on Who's Your Granny? Hmmm...
Have a great sewing week!

Your Granny quilt is looking wonderful. The use of the grey and white in the sashing is extremely effective. Good luck with finishing your string quilt, too.

Patti, your Granny is beautiful! What a cool idea for the sashing! I would totally screw that up but yours looks awesome! And your string quilt is going to look so great, too. I have no idea what you are worried about with the bee blocks. I'm pretty sure you couldn't mess them up if you tried!!

That grey really makes the granny quilt go to the next level! Maybe you could do dark grey hand quilting in each border?

I love your grey sashing - what a great way to complete your quilt!

That gray sashing is pure genius! As for the quilting, may I suggest continuous curves, with some kind of vine in the sashing and borders?
