Boyd St Bowling Bag- take 2!

We are told that it is Spring, even though it is -18 today! However, we have had some really nice days with a lot of the snow melting, so I guess a couple more "winter" days isn't the end of the world!
Not that we get any say in it anyway!
In honour of the coming warmer weather, I decided to make another Boyd St Bowling Bag.
This is a wonderful Pattern from Janelle at Emmaline Bags.

I decided to "upgrade" my fabrics this time! Instead of the Walmart cotton duck, I used Koi canvas by Rashida Coleman-Hale for the main exterior body.
The yellow flower fabric is by Erin McMorris, called Floradots from the La Dee Da collection. The yellow leather handles I got on Etsy- don't actually remember which shop.
The other big thing I changed, was to use byannie's Soft & Stable as the interfacing for the exterior fabrics. Wow! Is this amazing stuff or what!
The stability it gives to the bag is incredible, and it is so easy to sew with. I was a little nervous about it, because it is fairly thick, but absolutely no problem at all.
For the interior, I used Sunprint feathers. I lost the piece I cut for the bottom, and didn't have enough to recut. Seriously! How do you just lose a piece of fabric? It's not like I took it out for a walk and accidentally lost it! Sheesh, so darn annoying.
But, as it turns out, I do like the Floradots on the bottom. I put the Soft & Stable on the lining piece instead of the exterior bottom. For the exterior bottom I used the Peltex and interfacing as described in the pattern. Worked really well.
A really cute "handmade" zipper pull that Janelle also sells in her shop. She has some new ones with a Canadian flag that I want to get soon!
So, that's all I have to report for now!
I'm off to go shopping with my new bag!

ALYoF- March goal setting

Well, all I can say about the end of February is good riddance!!
However, March hasn't started any better...
-38C this morning with a windchill warning of -50C
The good news is that the sun is really bright, and it's shining through the window right now and actually feels warm!!
On to the fun stuff though, which is my goal for March.

It's really an easy decision, as there is only one project that I really want to get finished pronto.
A Lovely Year of Finishes
A Lovely Year of Finishes
"Postage Paid" is the postage stamp quilt I started a while ago, and then just put aside until I decided how large to make it.
While it uses a lot of different scraps, the pieces are so small, it doesn't seem to have made much of a dent in the scrap bins!
So, my March plan is to get this baby all put together, quilted and bound by the end of the month.
I already bought some backing fabric for it too! Yay!
I'm off to join the linky party.
