WIP Wednesday 24-04-2013

Like everyone else, I have been deeply moved by the tragic events during the Boston Marathon, and have been wondering what the quilting community would do to help.
It took no time at all for Berene from the VMQG
to come up with a really good plan to make flags.
They measure 6x8, so they are really quick to do.
Check out the Flickr group to see what is being done.
Click on the link to take you to the tutorial.
To Boston With Love
Here are the two I did.....

*********
In my quilting world, I finished the top for Bella's Curves!!!
Yay!!
This is from the Curve It Up QAL, using the Quick Curve ruler.
I used Bella from Lotta Jansdotter, as well as Kona Ochre and Curry.
For the sashing I used Essex yarn dyed linen in Flax, and Kona Steel.
The top measures somewhere around 59"x78"
My plan is to piece a back using the leftover curves and fabrics.
This could take a while!!!
********
I'm working on a table runner using New Leaf, an organic fabric from Daisy Janie Fabrics.
Because I am doing the Lucky Star BOM, I am combining the two projects :-)
I have 3 blocks done, and I am working on the last one....

Yes, sunglasses will be required when sitting at the table with this runner on it!
********
Along the same line, the Saskatoon Modern Quilt Guild challenge due this month is to use 2 randomly picked colours to make "something"
As I picked purple and white, I decided to make hot pads to sort of match my runner.
A sneak peek....
I'm sure I have other things I should be adding to the WIP list, but I've drawn a blank!
So, I'll link up with Freshly Pieced
WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced
and with The Needle and Thread Network.

And...
If you are anything like us, and have had the coldest Spring in 120 years......
here is a funny cartoon for you....
almost true!

Have a great sewing week!

These projects are all so beautiful! I am hoping that summer will stay a bit longer than that.

Thanks for letting us know about the Boston bunting blocks. I may make one and send it along, being a runner and a quilter ;). Your colours are so vibrant, yes sunglasses will be needed! I love your curve quilt, so calm looking.

Every time I see some of these pretty banner quilts, it makes my heart smile. I live a few miles from Boston and although my family was not directly affected in this terrible course of events, everyone feels personally connected. Thank You. I love the colors and fabrics in your star blocks ... :) Pat
