Come Fly With Me!

Today I decided to start another quilt(flying geese) before finishing the two I am currently working on. This goes completely against the grain for me. I hate leaving unfinished projects, but I really wanted to test out my Go! baby HST die. I had the fabric already picked out and itching to be cut- Timeless Treasures Crosshatch in black and white, as well as a yummy assortment of Kaffe Fassett shot cottons. I am waiting for a few more colours to arrive, but this is a good start.
I cut my fabric in 4.5 x 9.5 strips and loaded the machine using both 6 and 8 layers. I think I will stick with the 6 layers next time-just a little easier to cut, although the 3.5" HSTs all appear to be cut perfectly. In just 5 minutes of cutting I had this!!! EDIT---it was actually 4(not 6)layers that cut really well.
Absolutely amazing! Of course there was some fabric waste that you wouldn't get with traditional cutting, but worth every bit of it-even the dogears were cut off.
They sewed together like a charm and I ended up with perfect HSTs. Am I ever a happy camper today!

It looks like you are planning to have lots of fun with your GO! I laughed when you said that starting something new when you still had a other quilts unfinished was unusual for you. You are a rarity. Good luck with the flying geese.

I think I might be very jealous. Perfect HST's. I haven't even tried them yet but I'm already planning on making them big enough to trim them down if I ever do. I'll be most curious to see how your flying geese quilt comes together and your opinion on the Go Baby cutter and whether it made a critical difference or not.

Nice colours, by the way!
